A 10-year-old Emirati boy, Ahmed Haitham Ahmed Al Naqbi, heroically saved his family from a potentially fatal fire in Sharjah. The incident occurred late at night, around 2 am, when Ahmed woke up and detected a burning odor originating from his bedroom in their Kalba residence.
Ahmed promptly informed his father, Haitham Ahmed Al-Naqbi, about the situation. Haitham rushed to his children's room and discovered a fire originating from the air conditioning unit, situated just above Ahmed's bed.
In response, Haitham swiftly evacuated his two other sons, Nahyan (9 years old) and Maktoum (8 years old), who were asleep when the fire broke out.
According to Haitham, he witnessed flames falling from the air conditioner onto Ahmed's bed. Ahmed, displaying remarkable bravery, carried his younger brother, and they joined their father outside the house as the rest of the family sought safety.
Thanks to the timely activation of the fire alarm system and the arrival of the civil defense team, the fire was contained and prevented from spreading further within the house.
Haitham, speaking with pride, shared, "My son's quick actions within minutes preserved the lives of his siblings and his mother. His alert response to the emergency situation caused by the smoke from the air conditioner in his room enabled him to protect his two brothers, as the children's room was engulfed in flames shortly after it was evacuated."
Haitham also highlighted his son Ahmed's strong character and sense of responsibility towards his siblings and the family.
Apart from his heroic act, Ahmed is an enthusiastic football player, representing the Kalba City Club and the UAE national football team. He is also academically proficient and continuously seeks opportunities for personal development.
